SmartLife LEJOG in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Trust
Saturday 30th July – Saturday 13th August 2011
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR TEAM!
Event description
Covering around 1000 miles in 2 weeks, our team of 4 (3 females and 1 male) will be cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats wearing the SmartLife HealthVest ™ to monitor their vital health signs. This website will allow you to look at the individual participants daily data (heart rate, respiration rate, body position, body temperature) and compare them with each other as well as against the route.
The aim of this challenge is to record useful data throughout the event that can be used to improve the knowledge we have of monitoring vital health signs during exercise and can be analysed to impact a variety of areas from healthcare to sports science.
Technology description
SmartLife softsensors™ are located at specific points in each garment to accurately measure vital health signs. Our conductive pathways allow the sensors to be positioned anywhere on the garment, making it easy to design the garments specifically for any situation and in this case with cycling in mind. As a result there are no wires within the garments which make them super comfortable and fully washable, which is essential for a two week cycling challenge!
